Depot Doings: Old Fort, TN / Loudon, TN / Murphy, NC / Rochester, MI

October’s featured depots include the L&N Railway at Old Fort, TN (1978); the L&N Railway depot in Murphy, NC; the Southern Railway depot in Loudon, TN (1978); and the Michigan Central Railway depot in Rochester, MI (1979).

The L&N Railway depot at Old Fort, TN (1978) has been relocated from its original location and turned into a permanent residence several times. Presently the property around the depot is overgrown with weeds and small trees. From what I observed several months ago, it appears to be abandoned.  The L&N Railway depot in Murphy, NC has been restored and currently houses a small museum. The Southern Railway depot in Loudon, TN (1978) now houses the Loudon County Chamber of Commerce, while the Michigan Central Railway depot in Rochester, MI (1979) has been restored and houses a gift gallery.
