The structure in the photo of 6214 is a covered conveyor that moved spent cinders, clinkers and ash from the locomotive to hoppers waiting on the adjacent track while the engine was being washed. The ash would be washed onto a below grade conveyor which then would be moved to the incline conveyor for dumping into the hoppers.
